Bernie Mac – unul dintre cei mai tari comici pe care i-am prins. Abia am terminat de vizionat “Soul Men“. A avut un rol care i s-a potrivit ca o mănușă. Alături de Samuel L. Jackson, au format un cuplu pe cinste în această comedie muzicală.
Pe 9 august 2008, Bernie Mac a încetat din viață. A doua zi, pe 10 august, a încetat din viață și Isaac Hayes, fiind ultimul film al acestora.

Pelicula a apărut abia 3 luni mai târziu.

Una dintre fazele comice din film este pe genericul de final, povestea lui Charlie Chan:
